Mercury Retrograde X Libra 2021 By: Erin The Urban Mermaid
September 27, 2021Well FireandLux Fam, here we go again. Mercury Retrograde is back for its final show in 2021, this time in the sign of Libra. Mercury will start this transit on September 27th, 2021, although you can always feel its shadow wayyy before, and stay here until October 17th, 2021, with a little aftershock.
What can we expect this time around?
Mercury itself rules over all things communication, processing of thoughts, information and ideas, dreams, travel, schedules, routines, daily habits and consciousness. It is the natural ruler of Gemini and Virgo and their corresponding houses. Mercury goes “backward” or retrograde 3 times a year for about a month or so when we include its foreshadow and aftershock. This year it retrogrades in all air signs and this is its final trip for the year.
Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac, ruled by Venus. Libra is all about peace, harmony, balance, symmetry, social graces, beauty, fairness and relationships. She is a cardinal air sign, meaning she is the first to take action based on what has been communicated and processed in thought.
This time around, I’d like us all to take a look at how we communicate with ourselves.
Are we clear? Are we kind? Do we make sense to ourselves? What kind of stories are we creating, and are they truths?
It is time for us to be a bit kinder to ourselves, show ourselves more compassion and grace. This is also a time for us to be looking at what we are forcing. Mercury Retrograde will certainly show us that if we force something, it will resist or explode! Libra is a sign of Divine Flow. Let’s try more flowing and less forcing.
And when we are inevitably redirected in our actions, words and paths, we must learn to trust this! We tend to get very attached to outcomes or the way something “should be” which keeps us in our ego, the lesson here is to trust everything is happening FOR us. And like all other Mercury Retrogrades, we are being asked to listen more than we speak.
But the most important mirror of this transit is being reflected in our relationships.
This can make things very difficult, nobody likes their relationship rattled! And Mercury likes to pick things apart! Try to approach this with an open mind. Perhaps you or your partner have been burying something that needs to be brought to light to address and inevitably heal. It is a time for radical transparency, vulnerability and raw honesty, please, please, please- hold space for this with unconditional love rather than snapping or jumping to conclusions.
Judgement is a killer in relationships. How can you listen to the other person’s side before judging? Practice empathy by putting yourself in their shoes. Maybe no one is wrong or right. Maybe everyone truly has their own emotions and perceptions and we can do better by understanding them and that! Little things like sincere apologies and thank-you’s go a very long way.
