Mars X Taurus by: Erin The Urban Mermaid
July 6, 2022July is active in the cosmos already! This time it’s our Divine Masculine planet, Mars leaving its home base of fiery, warrior mode Aries and stationing in slow-moving Taurus.
I’ve got a lot of personal experience with this one FireandLux fam, so lots to share.
Mars will stay in Taurus from July 5, 2022 until August 20, 2022. Let’s break it all down for ya.
Mars, the little red planet with a lot of rage, is representative of our Masculine. Named after the God of War himself, it does come with a lot of…
- Energy
- Aggression
- Action
- And overall defensive fight in us
Mars rules over Aries, together the two rule over the first house, the “House of Identity”. I always make the joke if Venus is our love, Mars is our Fu*k- because it’s our most primal of sexual urges and carnal instincts as well.
Mars has now left Aries, where it is considered at home and planted itself in the next sign of Taurus.
Earthly Taurus is ruled by Venus and when we consider that polarity knowing Venus is our Divine Feminine planet, it is safe to say Mars is not at its most comfortable here.
A quick recap on Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac:
- As I just mentioned, Taurus is ruled by Venus and she is much more mindful and slower paced than Aries.
- Literally, Taurus takes its time, so much, in fact, it’s often considered stubborn or indecisive when actually, their pet peeve is having to go back and do things again. They would rather get it right the first time around, even if it takes the extra time.
- They live life through their senses and quite literally need to feel things out.
- Taurus enjoys the beauty of life and has a deep connection with Mother Earth.
- Taurus and Venus rule the second house, the “House of Values” which touches on everything from our finances to our self-worth.
So why can Mars in Taurus bring on the frustration?
Very simply, Mars wants quick action, he’s impulsive! But while here in Taurus he is forced to slow down which isn’t really Mars’ jam.
Have you ever heard the expression, “waiting on the other shoe to drop”? That is a perfect summation of Mars in Taurus.
I come with receipts on this one, fam. My oldest son who is 5 and an Aries stellium has Mars in Taurus and it took me years to fully understand he will do things on his time, not mine or anyone else’s.
But frustration can teach us an interesting and usually much needed lesson in patience and grace.
- It’s also here to teach us the art of thinking things through before we just go for it.
- Meditation is a wonderful practice to tap into during this time because it forces us to quiet our mind, slow down and truly hear our inner voice.
- Being present is also a focus during this transit. Many of us struggle with that. It can also keep us on track and have the stamina to reach our end goals.
- The other thing Mars in Taurus has me thinking of is actually having a slow summer. Lounging by the pool, sipping a cocktail, grilling something delicious up, not in a rush to go anywhere or do anything. It’s a very Palm Springs kinda vibe, minus the partying that can go on there…haha. We live in an urgency culture that looks down on relaxing, doing nothing and just chilling when in fact these are necessary and restorative to nourishing our souls.
- Self-care baby!
I will, of course, mention the shadows that can come up including being stuck or stagnant, becoming too comfortable for your own good and allowing opportunities to pass by because ya slept on ‘em!
A quick look back, the last time Mars entered Taurus was January 6th 2020, without getting political, we’ll just say when Mars changes signs Tower moments can really come to a boiling point.
I say take advantage of those Palm Spring vacay vibes and you’ll enjoy this transit, Fam!
