Cancer Season 2023: Erin The Urban Mermaid
June 26, 2023Well, FireandLux Fam, the Sun has exited mental Gemini and has officially entered “FEELINGS MODE ON” with Cancer season. If we could insert that little drowning emoji here, we would lol.
Cancer always comes with the emotions so let’s see what the Moon Child has in store for us. . .
Cancer aka the Mother of the Zodiac is the 4th sign of the Zodiac, and very much so embodies that Mother role of the Divine Feminines. She is ruled by the Moon herself and together, the two rule the 4th house, the “House of Family”.
Cancer is a Cardinal Water sign and very much the Empath, able to quite literally feel things.
- Their challenge is to be able to separate their feelings from others and not take others’ feelings on and especially not confuse them for their own.
- Cancer rules the home and home life as well, so this season can have us retreating in over being super social like Gemini that preceded it. Home is their castle, their sacred safe space.
- Cancer also cares so deeply. Family is of the utmost importance to them. They will mother, nurture, nourish, care, provide and protect at all costs.
- Much like their symbol the crab, Cancer has a tough shell but is usually a softy deep within.
- Also like the crab, they kinda side step through conflict or confrontation and can easily be swept up in the ebbs and flows of the tides, meaning they can be moody AF.
- They do have an incredible secret superpower as a community builder due to their ability to feel out a situation and provide whatever is needed.
- Cancer loves to be nostalgic and live in memories, oftentimes getting a little too stuck in the past and unable to be present.
- They also struggle with taking self-accountability, projecting, bitterness and escapism. But damn, do they LOVE HARD.
Home life is front and center this Cancer season and it’s showing up in a few different ways.
- First, it’s a great time to make your home or makeover your home so it’s a place you truly just love to be at. Lots of coziness, softness and good vibes.
- Self-care is also a must! But the deep stuff, like nourishing your soul through healing modalities and rest and healthy food, not just pedicures and baths (although we encourage that too!).
- Get lots of rest and water, take some spiritual and meditative baths – whatever your soul is telling you it needs, time to listen!
- Outside of the home, community events are wonderful too. Maybe yoga in the park – that is both social yet fulfilling.
- Reading a few good books, learning and cooking some great new recipes, scrapbooking, spending intimate time with family are all great Cancer season activities.
Cancer also connects us to our roots, our lineages and ancestors.
- If you already work with your ancestors, clean up their altar and perhaps bring them some fresh offerings.
- If you don’t yet work with them, there is no time like the present. Remember we are a culmination of our lineage before us, the good and the bad, so breaking generational trauma as well as expressing gratitude for the ancestors who fiercely protect us is very important.
- Finally, the importance of the element of water. Be in it, near it, work with it – a beautiful time for cleansing rituals.
One of the most crucial things to keep in mind while in Cancer season is our emotions: how to not let them get the best of us, not feeling like we are drowning and to separate our emotions from others as empaths.
- Grounding and cleansing practices are very helpful with this.
- We also need to embody a healthy sense of awareness bc the crab can get quite crabby!!!
- Moodiness is very common.
- And while we encourage you to spend time at home, take what you need, do not become a complete recluse or shut in.
- As well, the importance of being present and experiencing the joys of life bc Lordt knows this season will have us caught up in nostalgia!
- Avoiding or deflecting things, people, emotions and situations may seem like an easy route to take atm but it will not hold space for your healing. The only way out is thru!
Good luck FireandLux fam!
